Our proposal for this 1960s detached dwelling involves a complete reorganisation of the existing 4 bedroom house and extending in order to create new spacious living and sleeping spaces for a growing family with young children. The orientation of the site demands careful consideration in relation to the order of spaces and the resulting design layout is a skewed living volume, turning its back on a North facing rear garden thus creating a south-west facing enclosed courtyard to the front and side of the dwelling. The first floor extension provides a master ensuite which is linked to the master bedroom and walk in closet to the rear of the dwelling. A converted attic incorporates a new contemporary dormer window which providing a new office space and guest bedroom. The new volumes are clad in a variety of dark materials, including Zinc Metal Cladding and Fibre Cement panels.
